7th April 2009 - Off to Gold Coast

After months of planning, the day has finally arrived for us to jet off on our first holiday in YEARS!

Ee Laine and I are both staying a night in the Gold Coast and our international flight is due to leave tomorrow morning from there.

But first things first... I was feeling a bit peckish and thought I'd squeeze in a snack before I jumped onto the flight... Enter curry pie with mash and gravy from Harrys de Wheels (didn't know they had one at the domestic terminal)...

After the snack, we made our way to terminal 36 to board our flight when we saw some baggage handlers on the side of our plane... We located our luggage (marked with a fluoro orange strap) and watched on to ensure it made it on the plane... There was a lone bag in the middle of nowhere on the tarmac and Im not sure which flight it belonged to...

We were in flight for about 1 hour 20 mins before we touched down... to my surprise, Gold Coast airport looked almost identical to Cairns airport... Perhaps the QLD gov scored a group buy with airports :)

So after we picked up our luggage, we strolled outside to locate a cab... the driver dropped us off a good 200m from the doorstep of our hotel... what a prick.
We are staying a night at the Mantra in Coolongatta and first impressions... room was roomy and neat, but had a really wierd stale smell in the air.

Then came to the business end of the night... what to have for dinner... We ventured out on the main strip outside our hotel and there were numerous cuisines on offer.

We settled on an Italian restaurant called "Earth n Sea" which claimed to have "amazing" food... we settled on the fettucine carbonara and the "hot lips" pizza which had ham & pepperoni...

After eating ourselves silly, we rocked back to the room to rest for the day ahead.
